So far, I’ve conquered the soroche (altitude sickness) like Pizarro conquered the Incas but to be safe, I’m following the advice of my guide Boris, and not having red meat or (shockingly) alcohol tonight. The local delicacy is….. Guinea pig. Macchu picchu is actually a lot lower than Cuzco and I’ll be spending the night there tomorrow, then back again on Tuesday to Cuzco.
The group still consists of me so it appears that the guides and drivers are relying on me for income. Plus, this is NOT the high tourist season so there are almost no tourists even in the tourist places. Weather is still lovely but a tad chilly – I’m going to ask for my room to be made a little warmer.
I’ll send pictures later tonite and bore you with many more upon my return to SA. I do read all of your comments!
