We arrived at the Atocha train station and after a short drive through the city, we went to the Palace Hotel. The tour I was on made so many things effortless, including the fact that our luggage would be whisked to our room before we got there.

After one of my new friends went to dinner at Las Cuevas de Luis C. off one of the main squares and we had paella and wine, we enjoyed the evening walk past the street performers (like Times Square or in New Orleans).
The next morning we took the drive through the various neighborhoods (lots of palaces!), and then took a guided tour through the Prado (no pictures). The rest of the day was ours to enjoy so I hiked with another friend through the large city park, and then we had our blow-out ending of lots of sangria, dinner and birthday celebration.

After a leisurely morning and a brisk walk, I flew to Bilbao.
