Waking up in Lima

It IS balmy in Lima. Currently 79 degrees with a high of 82. Everyone has been very nice – I even was “pre-checked” at airport in SA and didn’t have to take shoes off or pull out my baggy of liquids United actually had decent food for our dinner and the friendly guy gave me free wine from the first class menu.

While it took a while to get thru immigration and customs last nite (nothing that everyone else wasn’t going thru, too) a lovely woman was there right outside of customs with my name in BIG print and took over. And gave me a bottle of water. I finally checked into my hotel in Miraflores (one of the nicer neighborhoods in Lima) about 2:00 am after a long ride thru other parts of Lima – Lima has over 10 million people! And apparently no freeways, just avenues. So we are definitely on maƱana time.

I had very delicious food for breakfast, including a couple of unique tamales and a quinoa mix. I’m about to walk to Larco Mar (on the Pacific)
